My life as a new mom

See ya later Mama and Dada

In the past few weeks Mavity has learned so many new tricks! When you say "see ya" or "hi" she will wave at you. She can say "ma ma" and "da da". She sometimes says "na na" and "ba ba" too. And most recently she has learned to crawl. Well kind of crawl. She does the army crawl on her belly, it is very cute!!!

Her favorite game is sneak attack on the kitties! It is hilarious! She, however, has not mastered the "sneak" part of sneak attack. She gets up close enough where she can almost touch them (which I thought was the goal) and then she SCREEAAMMS! And the kitty runs away. It is quite funny to watch. Sometimes she gets ahold of a tail and tries to stick it in her mouth, resulting in the kitty's tail being pulled beyond capacity and crying and momma telling her "no no". She still thinks this to be a fun game and continues pulling and grabbing at the kitty till she has a fist full (or mouth full) of hair.

Also since the crawling we have had to discipline (well kind of). There is a cable on the ground and she thinks that this is her property. She will crawl over to it shake it wildly and scream and then try to eat it. To this I have said, "no no Mav, that's not for you." To which Mavity said, "hahahahaha". Seriously! I told her no, she looked at me and started laughing, like no was the funniest word she had ever heard! It is a good thing she is the cutest girl on the planet!

Good news, her sense of humor is intact! The other day she was crawling towards me and I said, "oh are you coming to see momma?" Her response, "nnn, Da da!" To which I said, "good luck, Da da's at work and thats a long crawl." She didn't think that was funny at all. =)

Finally Mavity can sit in the cart at the grocery store like a big girl! And she loves it. Up until last week I had been carrying the 40lb car seat into the store and putting that on the cart. UGH, it was building muscles but it was also straining them! I love that she can sit in the cart and so does she! She can now reach for things and pull them off the shelves, fun! We went to Costco the other day and she actually got to have free samples with me. They had some mashed potatoes and dried fruit and she had a blast, well until there were no more free samples for her to have and then she screamed! It was honestly the first time she had ever gotten mad at me when I took something away from her, thats when I knew she was growing up. YIKES. She can also, now sit in the stupid high chairs at restaurants. I'm not sure who invented those things but they are DUMB!!! But at least she can now sit in the dumb thing with out falling out. Yesterday we went out to eat and she sat in the high chair and grabbed for everything on the table, it was funny! I think she enjoys being a big kid.

I'm so excited for all the new things she is doing but it also makes me sad to think she is growing up so fast! I can't believe we are already half way to 1 year. It seems like just yesterday I was praying to everything holy to get that child out of my body and now here she is, 6 months old. I was telling my mom that Mav was such a big girl now and was drinking from a bottle, sleeping through the night etc and my mom said, "looks like it's time for another kid." I thought about it for a second and then said, "NO WAY IN HELL!" I'll wait at least 2 more years before we do this again. I love her more than anything but she is a lot of work! I couldn't imagine having 2 babies just yet, let alone being pregnant while taking care of 1! Ah, the joys of motherhood!
